At camp and year-round, AMICA enables children, teens, and young adults to practice social and independence skills through engaging events and activities in the community, supervised by trained and experienced AMICA counselors. AMICA campers learn to plan outings and nurture friendships through age-appropriate community activities. These may include:

  • Bowling
  • Movies
  • Restaurants
  • Shopping
  • Weekly social skills groups
  • Teen Outings
  • Teen Dances
  • Interview/job skills groups

To reinforce the social and developmental skills that we will practice daily at camp, both children and teens will enjoy community field trips. Teens will practice independence and organizational skills by participating in the planning of two community field trips per week, giving them the opportunity to help choose destinations, determine transportation, calculate costs, engage friends, and enjoy the trip!
